What WhereKept is
WhereKept is an iPhone app for keeping track of where things are in a home. You create a household, describe the places in it, and record items with photos and notes. Members of the same household share that information.
WhereKept is made by Viereck Group LLC, a Pennsylvania company. In this policy, “we” means Viereck Group LLC.
What we collect
- An email address and password, or a sign in provider, to create your account.
- A display name you choose.
- The household names, place names, item names, notes, quantities, brands, models, serial numbers, and photos you enter.
- A record of when items were added or moved and by which household member.
- Basic technical logs needed to run the service, such as request timestamps and error reports.
- If you subscribe to WhereKept Plus, whether your subscription is active, which plan it is, and when it renews or ends.
- If you sign in with Apple, a token from Apple that lets us disconnect WhereKept from your Apple ID when you delete your account.
- Crash reports from the app: what went wrong, the app version, and the device model and iOS version. Crash reports do not include your name, email, or anything you entered.
The app does not collect your location, your contacts, or advertising identifiers, and it does not use Google Analytics.
This website
wherekept.com uses Google Analytics to count visits, see which pages are read, and learn how people found the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and records details such as your browser, device type, the page that sent you here, and an approximate location based on your IP address. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization for this site. We never send Google your email address or anything you type into the site.
You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt out add on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. If you join the waitlist, your email address is stored with us only to contact you about WhereKept.
Photo identification
Photo identification is part of WhereKept Plus. When you tap Identify from photo, the photo is sent to Anthropic, an AI provider, to suggest a name and details for the item. The photo is used only to produce that suggestion. It is not used to train AI models. You review the suggestion before anything is saved. You can use WhereKept without this feature.
Subscriptions
WhereKept Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to check with Apple whether a subscription is active; RevenueCat receives your WhereKept account ID and the purchase record from Apple, and nothing you store in the app.
Crash reports
When the app crashes, a report is sent to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. Reports are not linked to your account.
Where data is stored
Data is stored with Supabase in the United States. Photos are stored in a private bucket and are served only to signed in members of your household through short lived links. Connections are encrypted.
Who can see your data
Members of your household, whom you invite with a code. Nobody else. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We share data with the service providers named above only as needed to run the app.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from the Household tab in the app. Your sign in and profile are removed immediately. Households that still have other members keep their items, with your name removed from them. A household with no remaining members is deleted along with its items and photos. Waitlist emails can be removed on request.
Children
WhereKept is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note it in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
