Now on the App Store for iPhone
Every item in your house gets a shelf address.
Like a book in a library. Search for anything and the answer is a place you can walk to:Garage · Tool chest · Top drawerShared with everyone in the household.
Free for 25 items. WhereKept Plus for the whole household is $19.99 a year or $2.99 a month.
How it works
Name the places
Rooms hold closets, cabinets, and bins. Those hold drawers, shelves, and boxes. Nest as deep as your house actually goes. It takes a few minutes per room.
Give each item a place
Take a photo and the app fills in what it is. Pick the place. That item now has an address, the same way a library book has a call number.
Look it up
Type passport. The answer is not a photo of a drawer. It is Office, filing cabinet, top drawer, back folder. Walk there and open it.
What it does
One inventory for the whole family
Everyone in the household sees the same places on their own phone. Move something and the address updates for everyone within seconds.
A record of who moved what
Every time an item is put away or moved, the app notes who did it and when. The drill is not lost. It was moved to the garage on Tuesday by your brother in law.
Labels for bins, boxes, and drawers
Print a small label with a code on it. Stick it on the bin. Scan it later and see what is inside without opening it.
Photo identification
Point the camera at an item and the name, brand, and model fill in when they are legible. You review it, then save. Nothing is guessed.
The insurance list, when you need it
Serial numbers, purchase dates, and photos live with each item. One tap exports the whole house, or one room, as a PDF grouped by room with a total, or as a spreadsheet.
Nothing to type twice
Search covers names, brands, notes, and the places themselves. Searching for garage shows everything that lives there.
Questions
- Is this for insurance, or for finding my things?
- Finding your things. That is the job you do every week. An insurance list is something you need once a decade, and the app produces it from the same data, but it is not the reason you will open it.
- How is this different from Sortly or a spreadsheet?
- The address. Most inventory apps give you folders and a form. WhereKept gives every item a place in a tree that matches your house, so the answer to where is it is a location you can walk to, not a category.
- Who can see my inventory?
- Only the people you invite to your household, with a code you control. Photos are stored privately and are never used to train anything.
- Which phones?
- iPhone. WhereKept is on the App Store now. Android is not planned yet.
- What does it cost?
- The free plan holds 25 items for one person. WhereKept Plus is for the whole household, with sharing, unlimited items, photo identification, and the insurance PDF, at $19.99 a year or $2.99 a month.
